Description

This 3D skull model was created by laser scanning the Museum's iconic *Diplodocus carnegii* cast. Rotate, zoom in and explore the features of this popular dinosaur. Dippy was the first *Diplodocus* (DIP-low-DOCK-us) to go on display anywhere in the world when it was gifted to the Museum in 1905. It quickly became a star, capturing hearts and imaginations. Dippy then left the Museum in 2017 to complete a whirlwind tour of the UK. The skeleton will be on display at the Museum from 27 May until 2 January 2023. https://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit/exhibitions/dippy-returns.html To mark this event, we have prepared a set of 3D printable files which can be downloaded and printed on a conventional desktop 3D printer and assembled to create a three-quarter scale model of the skull, or a model which can be compiled from laser cut sections of cardboard. If you do try this out, let us know how you get on in the comments!
