Description

Authored by Gabriela Coelho Brêda, Caio Massoto Pacheco, Gustavo Machado and Lucas Asafe from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, 2025. From the book to the students' hands. The 3D printing of molecules, such as amino acids, helps students comprehend the diversity of amino acids and how they contribute to the assembly of complex and essential macromolecules like proteins. For this reason, we created 3D-printed models of these molecules, which were used in molecular genetics teaching workshops. Here, we provide the STL files of individual amino acids, which were printed in groups to optimize material usage and reduce costs. An example of an optimized file for printing a group of five amino acids, along with its dimensions, is also available.
