Description
SDS-PAGE is one of the most common bioanalytical techniques in the life sciences. However, performing the technique requires manual dexterity and vision in order to load samples into the gel lanes/wells. As a result, people with certain physical and visual disabilities have been excluded from performing this technique in the laboratory setting. This device allows those with complete blindness or low manual dexterity to load samples consistently and safely into PAGE gels using any brand of single channel micropipette. The device guides the pipette tip to the corresponding well (1-10) and prevents the user from inserting the tip too far down and accidentally stabbing the gel. This device is designed to work with the XCell SureLock Mini-Cell Electrophoresis System sold by Invitrogen/ThermoFisher (Cat # EI0001) (https://www.thermofisher.com/us/en/home/life-science/protein-biology/protein-gel-electrophoresis/protein-gel-electrophoresis-chamber-systems/xcell-surelock-mini-vertical-electrophoresis-system.html (https://www.thermofisher.com/us/en/home/life-science/protein-biology/protein-gel-electrophoresis/protein-gel-electrophoresis-chamber-systems/xcell-surelock-mini-vertical-electrophoresis-system.html)) The device requires use of a common gel loading pipette tip (ART gel 20P Pipette tips produced by Molecular BioProducts Inc; Cat# 2155P) https://www.thermofisher.com/order/catalog/product/2155P (https://www.thermofisher.com/order/catalog/product/2155P) For further details or questions, email Bryan Shaw at [email protected] or Levi Garza at [email protected]
