Description

This is a 3D model optimized for 3D Printing for use with adaptive equipment like a head stick or a mouth stick. This model was derived from measurements taken from an acrylic rod used in a head stick. Using a similar design to the female receptacle on commercially available mouth sticks, this 3D model is an adaptive screw which clips to the “stick” portion of the head stick or mouth stick. This design can be upscaled or downscaled to fit onto the user’s individual head stick or mouth stick. Because the opening of the screw is larger than commercially available ones, this design allows the user to twist the cap to tightly secure larger items such as a glue stick, wood burner, or marker. This was designed to be printed using a fused filament fabrication print; however, it should be printable with any 3D printer. We printed on a Ultimaker S5 printer using polylactic acid (PLA). This model was designed by Sara Belko and the Health Design Lab.
