Description
Development of the Morakana face-shield design began after we noticed that the designs we found online either took too long to print or weren’t reusable. This design allows for quicker prints and can partly be reused by detaching the front plastic and putting the headband in the washing machine. The process involves printing a pair of clips, sewing the clips into an elastic headband, and attaching the front plastic to the headband. Advantages Comfortable for long periods of time, no hard surfaces contacting the skin Reusable headband by sterilizing in washing machine Minimal design for quick 3D printing (<20 minutes) Minimal exposed 3D printed area outside shield Easy assembly on location by healthcare professionals Only 2-4 headbands required per doctor, then production focuses only on shields Disadvantages Requires sewing (20 minutes for a novice) PET of 0.007" -0.01" only, anything thinner will be too flimsy No top cover on this design Requirements 3D printer PET-G filament for 3D printer Anti-fog PET Sheet - sourced from plastic suppliers Headbands - off the shelf Basic sewing kit Vinyl / laser cutter OR pen knife and cutting mat Packaging bags and sanitary equipment Procurement Guide for US-based Makers Anti-fog PET 0.007" sheet https://www.mcmaster.com/8567k62 (https://www.mcmaster.com/8567k62) 3D Printing Filament https://www.matterhackers.com/store/3d-printer-filament/petg-red-high-strength-filament-1.75mm (https://www.matterhackers.com/store/3d-printer-filament/petg-red-high-strength-filament-1.75mm) https://www.amazon.com/OVERTURE-Filament-Consumables-Dimensional-Accuracy/dp/B07PGYHYV8 (https://www.amazon.com/OVERTURE-Filament-Consumables-Dimensional-Accuracy/dp/B07PGYHYV8) Headband https://www.mcmaster.com/88225K68 (https://www.mcmaster.com/88225K68) https://www.amazon.com/Zapire-14pcs-Colors-Sports-Headbands/dp/B071KWV91N/ (https://www.amazon.com/Zapire-14pcs-Colors-Sports-Headbands/dp/B071KWV91N/) Packaging bags https://www.mcmaster.com/1928T22 (https://www.mcmaster.com/1928T22) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1R3F4Y (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1R3F4Y) Time Required In total, approximately, 45 minutes to produce a finished face shield.
