Description

I am using a DCAT 21 precision microelectronic balance to measure the capillary forces between water and hydrocarbons. Unfortunately, we cannot get contact angles since the container to hold the hydrocarbon is concave up and gets in the way of the horizontally mounted CCD camera. This device should work as a "hydrocarbon infinity pool," where liquid can fill up the middle section and be spilled to the outside. Hexadecane, one hydrocarbon we are using, completely wets PLA, so the pouring enough to flow over the highest edge should allow us to capture images from which we can extract the contact angle. This has not yet been tested.
