Description

3D Printable Air-Jet by the lab of Eduardo Silva (https://silvalab.bme.ucdavis.edu/) is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution license. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ This is a 3D printable air-jet for making microdroplets using an air-source. It can be glued to adjustable supports or directly attached to a syringe pump. ## Files airjet-airjet.stl (This is the air-jet itself) airjet-airjet_truncated.stl airjet-nozzle.stl support-base_legs.stl support-column.stl support-nut.stl support-screw.stl ## Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Mini v2 Rafts: Does not matter except for the adjustable screw and support columns. These should be printed with a raft or brim to prevent disconnection from the printing platform due to their height and benefiting from being printed upright. Supports: Not necessary. If bridging is a concern, supports can be used. Resolution: 0.0875 (A value specific for Monoprice Mini printers) Infill: 20% Material: Hatchbox PLA 1.75mm (White) Extruder Temperature: 190 C Platform Temperature: 60 C # Post-Printing: Ensure no blockage within the air outlet. If supports were used, remove any supports inside the air-jet with needle-nose tweezers. Attach the air inlet nozzle and seal if desired. Attach to supports as necessary. # Design notes: This model was designed using Fusion 360 (Autodesk). Please feel free to message me for the f3d files to edit with Fusion 360. NIH 3D Print Exchange does not support that format. The air-jet was designed to allowing a needle to be inserted into a path of airflow such that the air flows towards the outlet shared by the needle. The air nozzle was designed separately to create a large opening to benefit cleaning and to adjust the direction of the air nozzle. We designed the perpendicular columns that flank the air-jet to attach the device directly to the syringe pump or be glued to support adjustable legs. The files for these support legs are also attached. A support leg is 4 distinct parts composed of the base, which supports the two support cylinders; a screw, for adjusting the height; the support cylinders, which flank the adjustable screw; and an elongated nut piece, which attaches to the support cylinders the screw. We attached the elongated nut to the air-jet columns with glue. Additionally, support cylinders were glued to the base to keep them in place. Additional post-printing processing may be required if the support cylinders are too thick to fit into the holes of the base part.
