Description

This true to scale set of models shows the size and approximate structure of a developing brain at 23, 30 and 37 weeks of gestational age. Each model was averaged over a number of brains, so they lack the characteristics of single subject models. Still, this set is useful in visualizing not only the absolute size at each of the three time points, but just how quickly the brain is growing in the womb. These files were generously provided Dr. Rudolph Pienaar (https://www.linkedin.com/in/rudolph-pienaar-920b043) in the Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center (http://fnndsc.babymri.org/) under leadership of Dr. Ellen Grant (http://www.childrenshospital.org/researchers/p-ellen-grant) at Boston Children's Hospital (http://www.childrenshospital.org/) and are presented to you in collaboration with the Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (http://www.childrenshospital.org/research-and-innovation/research/labs/laboratories-of-cognitive-neuroscience) at Boston Children’s Hospital.
