Description

This is the "Lambda" microdrive designed for use with our swivel cap headstage, accompanied by two variations: the Cluster drive and the XL drive. At nearly half the size of the "Hug" microdrive, this unit specializes in hitting superficial structures and is more precise than its larger brother because it uses an M1 screw. The Cluster drive allows for independent manipulation of up to three electrode carriers in tight formation. The XL drive is a proposed alternative to the Hug drive, and has comparable dimensions. As stated above, you'll need an M1 screw and nut to complete fabrication of this design, along with a small amount of acid flux and solder to keep the screw from coming out during extension and retraction of the microdrive. A video showing how to assemble the microdrive can be found on our lab's website: http://parelab.rutgers.edu/microdrives.html
