Description
This is a structure of the complex between human MTERF4 and NSUN4. In the structure, MTERF4 is shown to be composed of a series of MTERF-motifs poised to bind nucleic acid. The RNA m5C-methyltransferase NSUN4 lack a separate RNA binding domain commonly used for RNA recognition by related RNA methyltransferases. Instead, NSUN4 binds to the C-terminus of MTERF4. Hence, NSUN4 utilizes MTERF4 for RNA substrate recognition. Please see: Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2012 Sep 18;109(38):15253-8. Structure of the human MTERF4-NSUN4 protein complex that regulates mitochondrial ribosome biogenesis. Spåhr H, Habermann B, Gustafsson CM, Larsson NG, Hallberg BM.
